Introduction: Harmony with the Local Community

Satone is a sanctuary designed for those who cherish the tranquility of "Oku-Yamato" and the historic charm of a traditional Japanese home. To ensure this 200-year-old heritage villa remains a beloved part of our village, we kindly ask for your cooperation in acting with the mindfulness and grace that this home deserves.

Freedom and Responsibility of a Private Villa

As a private, self-managed villa, we offer you the freedom to enjoy your stay without onsite staff. While we trust you to manage your own safety and conduct, please be advised that in the event of a violation of house rules or complaints from neighbors, we reserve the right to terminate your stay immediately without a refund. We appreciate your understanding in helping us preserve this special place.

Embrace the Silence (Respect for the Neighborhood)

Traditional Japanese houses "breathe" and harmonize with their surroundings. To honor the tranquil lives of our neighbors and the surrounding nature, we kindly ask that you refrain from loud conversations on the terrace after 8:00 PM. Please enjoy the gentle indoor atmosphere; we have provided UNO and Othello for your evening relaxation.

Touching History (Care for Traditional Fittings)

This villa features delicate shoji (paper screens), fusuma (sliding doors), and tatami mats, all crafted by skilled artisans. We would be grateful if you could treat these elements, as well as the movement of heavy luggage, with a spirit of "Itsukushimi" (loving care and tenderness).

Preserving Pure Air (No Smoking)

To preserve the scent of wood and the crisp mountain air, the entire villa is strictly non-smoking (including e-cigarettes). If you wish to smoke, please use the outdoor Starry Sky Deck. As we are surrounded by lush forests, even a tiny spark can lead to a devastating forest fire. We ask for your exceptional cooperation in ensuring all materials are fully extinguished and disposed of properly.

Protecting Tradition (No Open Flames)

Due to the historical significance of this wooden structure, the use of open flames (fireworks, candles, etc.) is prohibited outside of designated areas.

Savoring the Fragrance (Indoor Cooking)

To maintain the clean scent of the interior, we ask that any cooking with strong odors (such as grilling meat or fish) be done using the outdoor BBQ facilities. Please use the indoor kitchen for light meal preparation or for a quiet tea time.

Maintaining a Beautiful Cycle (Waste Separation)

To protect the pristine environment of Yamazoe Village, we appreciate your cooperation in sorting waste. Your small effort helps preserve the beauty of our village for generations to come. Waste Categories ▼Please separate your waste into the following categories and place them in the designated bins in the kitchen: ・Burnables (General Waste) ・Glass & Cans ・Plastic Bottles (PET) ▼A Few Friendly Requests: ・Rinsing: Giving your Plastic Bottles, Glass, and Cans a quick rinse helps keep the indoor air fresh. ・Cardboard: Please flatten all boxes and leave them neatly in the entrance area.

Passing the Torch (Preserving Our Heritage)

This villa is a precious heritage with over 200 years of history. We kindly ask that you return furniture and amenities to their original positions upon checkout, as a gesture of hospitality for the next guests who will call this place home.

Building Preservation:

This is a historical structure. Please treat the pillars, walls, and floors with care to avoid any marks or damage. As this is a cherished vessel intended to be passed down for generations, please understand that any intentional damage or defacement may result in a claim for restoration costs.

Nature’s Art: Moss:

The moss breathing in our garden is a living masterpiece, nurtured by this land over many years. Please refrain from stepping on, removing, or taking any moss from the grounds. We invite you to quietly admire its beauty just as it is.

Room Condition & Damages

In the event of excessive soiling, damage, or loss of amenities, we may unfortunately need to charge for the actual costs of restoration. We appreciate your understanding in helping us keep this historical home in its best condition.

Reporting Incidents:

Should any damage or heavy soiling occur during your stay, please let us know before you check out. Prompt reporting allows us to ensure the villa is in perfect condition for our next guests. We appreciate your honesty and cooperation.

About the Gas BBQ Grill

Enjoy a private BBQ experience in our forest-surrounded BBQ area. Bring your own ingredients and use the gas BBQ grill at your leisure. Fee: ¥5,000 per grill Reservation: Please select this option when booking.

egarding the use of the hearth and wood-burning stove

For safety and fire prevention reasons, the irori (traditional Japanese hearth) is kept locked at our facility. Therefore, the irori may only be used when arranged through our **private chef service** (with chefs who offer irori-style cuisine). We kindly ask guests to refrain from using the irori on their own. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. *Please note that the irori is available only from **December to April**, when the indoor temperature is below 15°C.* (The living room is also equipped with underfloor heating and air conditioning for your comfort.)
